The 300 HP advertised by Ford is measured at the crank, it doesn't include losses that occur in the drivetrain (transmission, rear diff.) There is typically a 10-15% loss in power from the engine crank to the rear wheels.

So if your increasing from 260ish to 300ish rear wheel HP, it's equivilant to raising the engine crank HP to 345ish.

I forget which GM car had two engines... I don't think it ever made it into production though (did it?)

It was a GM concept called the Cadillac Sixteen.

What are you asking? Are you asking at what horsepower a stock 2004 GT is rated? If so, do you want the number at the flywheel or at the rear wheels?

260 at the flywheel... or [drum roll] 226.08695 at the tires

Seems kind of strange when you lay out those numbers...

The first Gen was rated at 215 (225?) on the engine

The second Gen was rated at 260 on the engine

The third was rated at 300

Can anyone else besides me figure out that pattern?

Mine metered at 237rwhp after weld-in Flowmasters and a MAC off-road H midpipe. Stock trim puts it anywhere from as low as 210-215 and I've seen a couple around as high as 225.

LOL! You beat me to the punch. You can see a lot of bolt ons in Orange County. Especially on a summer day at the beach.

Blowers and turbos are also considered bolt ons.
