I have a 89 LX that if it ain't one thing its another. I rebuilt the whole tranny to include some of the actual gears also. Anyways not sure if its the clutch or what but it seems like when you shift from 2nd to 3rd it just doesnt grab 3rd like it grabs 2nd. It almost feels like your loosing traction. It also does it in 4th gear to. It was doing this before I rebuilt the tranny. Any ideas is that a clutch going bad or something else. I already replaced the clutch fork and throw out bearing.

Sounds like your desribing a slipping clutch. Might be time to look into getting a new one. How many miles are on your clutch?

To be positive your clutch is slipping, which it most likely is, just put it in 5th gear at like 2k rpms and punch the gas, youll find out all about a slipping clutch lol.

try driving up a hill at around 55mph or 80km/hr in fifth gear and punch the gas. If your rpms climb but your speed doesn't it is a sure sign of the clutch going.

Also ensure your clutch is fully engaging. For testing purposes, this can be accomplished by introducing just a hair of slack into the clutch cable.

After you do your testing, remove said slack for the TOB's sake.

Good luck.
