Maximum Motorsports sells a clutch cable heat shield, look in the "Clutch Accessories" section of their website. I haven't tried it yet but I might get one soon.
I needed a few bucks more for free freight and ordered and installed this..... No big deal, and aluminum tube split down the side with a hose clamp to prevent it from moving.... Looks like it will do the job very simply........

Go here, buy the heat shield that's rated to 1,800+ degrees. Go with 1/2" thick if you have plenty of room, or 1/4" if you don't.

Wrap the primary, and wrap the cable if you can. Problem solved.

Although it is pricey, you don't have to use very much. It's good to have some on the shelf when heat issues come up in any vehicle. This stuff works very well to insulate anything from headers as well as using it one the headers themselves.
