What are your first hand opinions on C&L Meters?

I want to hear from people that have/had C&L MAF meters....how do they work for you?

I don't want to hear "well my friend had one..." I want first hand expirences....

I was just made a offer for one under $100 shipped, and it's kinda of hard to refuse at this point....

I got a pro-M right now, but it's not calibrated for my computer, so I am having running problems.....so I need a new one, quickly....

I run one (73mm) with the stock air box and LOVE it !!

Insane bigger then the stock MAF, will let U know the Dyno results on Sun !!

Biggest problem with any meter is the dam CAI elbow, aftermarket meters like a straight shot of air.

I don't like mine, I have to run an I.S.T mass air adjuster with it to get the car to run. With out that air adjuster the car will bog and break up all the time. So I really don't like it.

Mine works just fine, it was the last part i put on and i was able to notice SOTP improvement with it after it opened up that bottleneck. I have the 76mm

I have a 73 mm c&l meter on my car since november and have had no problems with it.

I noticed mine ran like crap WITHOUT the O ring !!

When I pull the sensor out of the old meter the O ring went flying !

Finally found the dam thing a week later and installed it, no more LEAK !!

I personally don't like them. I have a C&L 73mm sitting on my shelf doing nothing. I have had it on two of my 5.0s before and both of them would run lean because of it. I even changed the MAF electronic sensor itself and it made no difference. I use a Pro-M in my 88 now and that is the only aftermarket MAF I will run in my cars.

I guess I'll give it a shot then.....the one I was offered is a 76mm.

5.0's 4 ever, would you be interested in selling your C&L? I need one with a 24# sampling tube. If yes, what do you want for it? I got offered a 76mm for $90 shipped, but it's a little bigger than I'd like, but then again, whats 3mm....hmmm

BTW, i will be using it with a K&N conical attached directly to the MAF itself. No elbows or anything....

I've had mine on for several years with no problems. Over time you will get some of the oil from that filter on the sensor wires in the MAF sampling tube and that can cause it to run rough. Just use some carb cleaner or electrical contact cleaner would be even better to clean those wires. Don't touch the wires with any object because they are fragile. Just spray a gentle mist on them to clean the oil and accumulated dirt off of them.

I have had two, the first one I bought when my car was mostly stock. It didn't work worth a damn.......finally found out that it had the wrong sampling tube on it from the factory....it was supposed to have a 19# tube but had a 24# tube brand new in the box! I found this out because I tried another one when I went with a fresh engine with lots o mods and went with 24#. I thought it had the wrong tube so measured and called Vortech....they confirmed it was a 24# tube (same as first one) and it works great with my 24# injectors.

I have the C&L 76 mm mass air meter with elbow. It was definitely a SOTP improvement and my idle is fine. But now with my planned motor work I don't know if i will stay with it. I might go Pro-M. I mean if it works well with my new set-up I'll definitely keep it, but I hear the Pro-M is better for tuning.
I got mine in a GP for $180 shipped so thats hard to beat. For a stock/bolt-on car its very good both money and power wise.

I at first bought the 73mm unit and put it in with my MAC CIA. I could notice a nice SOTP power increase all over but especailly up top, and had better throttle response. The next day I found the 76 system with tube for the same price including shipping so I ordered it and returned the 73mm unit and put my stocker back on. I think I noticed the gain more when I put the stock restrictor plate MAF back on. I think because when you buy a new part, you expect to notice a difference. I put it on and forgot about it when I went driving and I was like "WTF my car feels weak". When the 76mm system came in, i threw it on. I noticed a very slight SOTP increase there too, but not like when I first put it on.

Just wanted to add...

I was helping my friend's cosin do a tune up on his 96 Infinity G20 with the 2.0 4 cylinder. Took the MAF off to clean it and I was "this looks familiar" it was the same exact MAF housing as the stock MAF housing on our cars except it had screw holes that held it to the tube. The electronics were different but same screw holes.

i put a 73 mm unit on my car about 3 nights ago along with a 65mm TB. man did it wake the car up. i have never ran another aftermarket MAF on my car but the C&L did make it idle a lot smoother. yes it did lean the car out a little but that was fixed by bumping up my fuel pressure a little more. after i got it all on i went out and lucky me ran into a 98 cobra. it had a few mods, we went and raced and it wasnt pretty, i left him from the line and kept pulling. one of my best victories. just thought u guys would want to know. anyways...........

I'm going to try the C&L. I guess using one is a hit or miss, i hope it works for me, and especially, solves my problem.....

what size of MAF are you goign to get? i have a 73 that ill sell you cheap.
