Now that I have calipers I have been looking into my next purchase to do the 5 lug conversion on my 93. I came across the Ford Racing M-2300-M kit for the rear. This would require me to run SN rear axles.

I wondered how many of you are using SN length axles and how many of you are using Fox length axles? What do you guys think?

My wheel of choice currently are 94-95 tri-bars which I also have. However looking at Reef Blue Hatch's LX with FR500's I may want to switch in the future.

Going through the same thing Joe, only I bought a set of fox length units from some place in Iowa that sold them to me new for 65 ea. I was wondering, maybe somebody can clue me in too, why can't you just slap on a set of SVO rotors on the rear, use SVO rear calipers, and fab/acquire the necessary bkts to allow a rear disc set up instead of Ranger drums?

I used the 2300 Kit, so mine has the 94-98 Rear Axles, no issues at all.

You are running staggered true forged wheels?

Your wheels are staggered also correct? Am I correct to assume that running fox length axles is the better choice if I were to change to a staggered set of wheels in the future? Do either of you have the anti-moan brackets?

Why a truck differential?

I think I have a problem here.

Truck differential is 31 spline, verse the Mustang being 28. The 31s are a bit stronger, and after snapping an axle with the 28 spline Ranger axles on ET Streets, I thought it best to upgrade.

I run antimoan brackets. My first trip up and down the road without them and it moaned, badly. Added them and it went away.

The fox length is narrower. This works with the staggered wheels, like the FR500s, Bullitts, etc... The SN95 length stuff moves the wheels out a bit, and looks better with 8-9" wide rims.

If you run a sn axle have fun trying to fit a 9" rear. You'll want a 36mm offset at least to get them under the fenders, maybe 30mm but thats pushing it. They are difficult to find in anything but a bullit rim. I got lucky and found some m179's but this time around is fox axles, sn brackets and a 31sp diff.

Thanks for the comment, Joe. I have 9" wheels with Ranger axles and no issues and are tucked under the fenders just right. I'm now preparing to do a rear disk conversion with SN95 calipers and Northern Racecar brackets. At the moment, I'm having a blast installing a SN95 booster.

Yes, I do run staggered True Forged wheels. I chose to run Fox length axles to allow me to run a wheel with a lip. And no I do not run anti moan brackets, and have no issues.

Yeah, we only stayed for a bit until we went on the boat, i was going to leave an ass print on your hood, but opted against it figuring the metal would have been too cold against my ass.

Good luck with that booster. It took a bit to massage it in my car! Not to mention laying under the dash.

+1. I will also say that I used Yukon 28 spline Fox axles. May not be as beefy as 31s, but the Yukons side by side with a stock axle is a night and day difference. There is more material everywhere.

Try doing it in a 4-eye car. Our strut towers have zero clearance, it's retarded. I had to massage the tower AND the booster AND slot the holes in the firewall.

All i had to do was slot the firewall, took all of 15 minuets to put it, but then again, my car was stripped bare when i did it.
