I went to the dealer yesterday and the guy quoted me $260 to have my front brakes done. My car currently has 23k miles, so I doubt that my rotors have gone bad. I do know I need pads and I was wondering what kind of pads have you all gone with? I already looked at HAWK and CARBOTECH. Thanks guys.

Dealer did the same thing to me last fall just before storage. car as 25000m. I said forget it, bought Hawks HPS, sanded rotors with 120 papergrid like Hawks said on their instructions and every things is just fine. Just make sure your rotors are in good condition with no deep mark or groove.

I always do my own brakes. Easy and alot cheaper. EVen with 51,000+ miles my rotors look great along with the original pads.

BRAKES

I just bought a set of EBC "Greenstuff" pads but haven't installed them yet. At the same time I will be painting calipers yellow, installing "Powerslot" rotors and Russell SS brake lines at all 4 wheels.

Why not take this opportunity to upgrade your rotors with a bullitt or 03 cobra front brake kit?

btw, i have 25,700 miles on my 02 Gt and my brake pads have plenty room to go. You should get atleast 50k out of your first set of brakes imo.

My driving is just normal, don't really push the car or anything. The car vibrates a little when I brake and it feels a little rough as well. I thought about going with a Bullit conversion, but that's a little pricy right now. I think I might just go with HAWK pads.

can't you get 03 cobra or bullet front brake kit for like $400?

thats pretty damn reasonable when its gonna cost you 250 already to have no improvement in braking.
