first off...i did a search and couldnt find exactly the info im looking for...
well, i just finished the t5 swap in my 65 coupe...and my clutch cable moved on my and decided to find the exhaust....i bought the conversion kit from modern driveline, and for a new cable the want $150, because "its made special and longer."
now do i really need to get their cable again or can i buy a standard cable of summit for 50 bucks?

I've heard that the modern driveline kit requires you to use their cable. You might be able to have one made locally at hydraulic/heater/AC industrial type places. I sleeved my cable where it gets close to the exhaust with header wrap, also made a guide that I bolted to the shock tower holding it away from the exhaust tubes.

Ditto on the bracket. You should fab up something to hold the cable away from the offending header pipe(s).
