Well now that the weather is getting colder I've noticed that I've got one of the T-3650's that has the $hitty 1-2 2-3 grind when cold.

I havn't noticed it until just recently when I leave from work to go home at night ( after 11pm) since it's gotten colder cause my car is parked in a nice heated/insulated garage that doesn't drop below 65*.

My ? is, since the trans has to be pulled, I might as well upgrade the clutch while they're fixing the trans. What clutch should I go with? Is the King Cobra the way to go, or are there other better options. Cost isn't a factor. I'm getting a nice 3% bonus from work in 2 weeks. Thanks Ford Motor Co.

Any suggestions or is the King Cobra what I want?!

I like my King Cobra Clutch. It grabs really good.

I just got it because it was higher performance than the Heavy Duty.

I don;t think the King Cobra clutch will work on an 03 since it has the 11" clutch and the king cobra is a 10.5".....unless you also swap out the flywheel...

just had my dealer do the TSB on my tranny and they put my centerforce dual friction in for free ..... but they did charge me a little labor for pulling the passenger side header ...but I didnt mind ...... centerforce gets my vote , pedel pressure feels just like the stock clutch but this thing grabs like no other .....

True, but since the tranny is going to be out anyways I might as well upgrade it to a heavyduty one while it's out.

I'll check into the Centerforce.

What do you suggest?

I thought that a King Cobra was available for the 3650, but I thought wrong?

I had a H/D Hayes clutch in my 340 Duster and had no trouble with it.

when the dealer did my 3650 fix i had them put a spec stage 2 in for free. It grabs hard and doesnt chatter. If you get spec make sure to tell the ford dealer you want a O.E throwout bearing. Take the tob that spec gives you with the clutch and throw it in the trash!!!

Chan, you're certainly the exception here - you obviously have honed your driving skills. I can tell you this, when I broke my stock clutch (power-shifting the 1-2 on D/Rs) and had to replace it, I was simply blown away at how hard the new clutch grabs. I haven't been back to the track since, but would have to guess this would result in a slightly lower E.T.

Wow, your stocker held up a lot better than mine. I have 19K miles and about 30 launches at anywhere from 2-4K with steet tires and it now slips when I hit 2nd hard. Need a dual friction soon.

I liked my stock clutch, it felt good. But then I got a FRPP HD clutch installed, it feels GREAT. It definately bites harder, it doesn't feel as mushy on engagement.

I have problems from a poor install or a defective part though Car drives great though

I need a new clutch, I think the dealership f'ed mine up when they installed the new one by not resurfacing my flywheel. Chatters like a mofo. Anyone know what this could be? The thing jerks and chatters all the time.
