What Color to Paint

I will be painting a 69 coupe with a black vinyl top within a month or two. Any suggestions or pictures would be great. thanks a lot.

are you going for a stock look, or somthing a little tricked? stock=red, trick=midnight blue with a very subtle metal flake, but personaly I'd ditch the vinyl top (I did with my 68 and dont regret it a bit, but thats just me)

Basicly you just remove the trim around the windows, and tear the vinyl off. After that you've got some sanding to do. With the lower horizontal trim piece (the one only vinyl tops have) there are two things you can do, put them back on, or take take them off and weld/sand/bondo(if needed) the holes used to hold the old trim. The second, being my prefrence. Anyhoo, look forwand to catching you on AIM man. later

is the metal under the vinyl thick enough, or would i have to replace that?

no that's your normal metal roof under the vinyl just like any other car would have. IMO get the vinly roof off for good, or at least be sure it'll never get runt under it. My roof got screwed big time b/c of one -http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=452275

see this thread - by the way I'm painting my Stang 01Stang True Blue. So it's a pretty dark blue metallic. Sell ya some Atlantic blue paint for cheap
