What combo will work with these heads?

Whats up fella's. Got a question about my car. I recently required some used trick flow tw heads with 2.02 valves n was wondering with 1.7 rockers and a E cam will this clear the pistions? If not, is there any other cam that will clear with the 1.7 rockers? Is my best bet to go with 1.6's and sacrifice the lopey sound?
Any help would be appreciated!

The 1.6s wont reduce lope. Cam lope is a function of cam specs, lift, duration, lobe seperation angle etc... The 1.7 rocker arms wont really make the car sound more 'cammed'.

But to answer your question the E cam and 1.7s should clear it. Do you have an HO motor after the year 86?

Yes, I have the HO motor. I was told by a couple guys that the 1.7's wouldn't work with the stock pistons because of clearance issues, but they said they weren't for sure. Current motor mods are: performer 5.0 intake, shorty headers, E cam, underdrive pulleys, 70mm tb, cold air intake.

If it's an 86 motor, you better check for clearances. I am pretty sure that the 86 pistons do not have valve reliefs in them which reduces your chances of running a larger cam with more duration...

Remember, the valves open when the piston is in the moving away / towards the head, but by increasing the duration on the valve event, you run the risk of smashing the valve into the piston...

The 1.7's only increase lift. The lumpy sound comes from duration. The e-cam will not sound like a muscle car.

I already know that the E cam n 1.7's will work with stock heads, but I think I confused some of you guys. My question is will the E cam with 1.7 rockers work with trick flow twisted wedge heads with 2.02 valves without doing any piston work. I was told my motor was out of a 88 5.0 if that helps any.

I just recently switched from having a 2000 SS camaro to now having an 88 notchback, so I dont know much about the different years of Foxes.

I am sorry, I thought I read somewhere that you had an 86 block. But if you have an '88 than you will be fine using an E-cam / 1.7's (Or at least most people get away with it)

Maybe its just me but are u guys assuming that i'm asking if the 1.7's n E cam will work with the stock heads or TF TW heads?

I already have the E cam n 1.7's installed on the stock heads. I need to know if the TF TW heads will work.

Will this work I've kinda had some confusing mixed responses from other sites.

The Trickflow heads have non-stock valve angles to make the 2.02 intake valve fit on a stock piston. I am pretty sure that your combo will work.

(To be safe, you should check just in case)

Yea the TF TW heads have the 2.02 valves and special valve angles to allow no modification of the pistons to accomodate the large valves. As for the 1.7s with the E cam on those heads, i think the only way to find out is to bolt them down and test.

But if i had to guess id say its a 50/50 chance, its really hard to tell. E cams have more lift but less duration, and the valves are big so, only one way to find out...
