what compares to a contour 2.5 svt

If you're not sticking to Ford...A Mitsubishi Eclipse GST or GSX would make the 5.0L obsolete... mine averages 22mpg for a mixed commute and gets ~27 mpg on the freeway. It's making around 270 flywheel hp right now with unrestrictive intake and a slightly bigger turbo. It also sticks to the road like no Mustang I've ever driven. Basically an all around fun car with reasonable gas mileage.

Be careful with those DSM's. The Mitsubishi 2.0 is infamous for its "crankwalk" and the transmission can't hold much more power than what it has stock. I knew a guy with an Eclipse GSX, but he sold the car after he went through three transmissions in a year. It's a shame too, because I really like DSM's, and would have considered one if they weren't so unreliable.

Me and a friend have been looking over the 1.6 DOHC turbo engine. Last night he bought a 91 capri w/ a 1.6 turbo. After looking, laughing, and looking some more We will be putting that in his festiva pretty soon. It seems like it will work pretty good and I didn't know that made even 145hp stock.
A year ago I saw a turbo dodge omni that was smokin 5.0's and was mostly stock. So we're going to have the Ford response to that. :D
It had to be a '86 Shelby GLHS. http://www.xmission.com/~dempsey/shelby/sheldod3.htm
Those things are sweet. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, 175 hp, and they run 14's bone stock. Damn impressive for FWD in 1986.

 Hello Mc Fly:D

If where not talking Ford we shouldn't be here :flag: If he/she wants something that can haul but and be a good alternate to a SVT 24v V6 contour... ummm I got a idea why not a 2.3T  It gets great mpg and stock depending on what year/car you get it from does 140-210hp :nice: With small mods you can easilly get 225rwhp plus you still get 25mpg
