What cruising RPM yields you the best mileage

i would think anywhere in youre optimum torque to hp range would yeild the best mileage per speed.

like you dont want to be bogging the motor down in 5th gear doing 45@1400rpm's. you might think less rpm means less fuel, but you have to give it more throttle to maintain that speed. more throttle means more fuel. so youre ****ing yourself over.

i find that keeping the motor between 2-2500 on the freeway yeilds the best mileage, and between 2-3k in the city. i only use 5th gear in speeds over 55mph. i know most people think theyre overrevving the motor doing 2600rpm in 4th at around 53mph, but seriously, at under 20% throttle, youre not hurting it or mileage. go into 5th any sooner than 55 or 1800rpm and its bogging it.

unless you hit the cruise and dont touch it at all for the duration of the trip, and dont have to climb, accelerate, or do any hills.

then again, if youre truly looking for mileage, get a beater crx or something with the little d15y8 or whatever, me and a buddy went to Los Angeles and back to the central valley(something like 600mi trip) on a tank and a quarter, racing up the grapevine each way(gotta build momentum lol)

speed limit is 70 here. i just give the middle finger to all who pass !! and that's a lot of fingers. i hate to piss away money. i am sure the other drivers are used to me going slow. they have to be confused though...

they see me racing in town, then going 60 on interstate. then 135 at times. it's all to confuse them. screw their slow cars. i go slow by choice. they have to go slow.

Well, I'm certainly confused now...? What are you saying here, Bill? That you can drive at whatever speed you desire, but if anyone passes you, they get the bird. Then, other times, you'll fly by at 135...? Am I hearing you correctly?
