Ok, well I took the pockets off my door panels a while ago casue the one looked like crap cause it was sagging so much. I died my panels black and now the area where the pockets were is coming off and it looks like crap. What can I do to keep it on or put in its place so they look nice and possibly something easy thats custom? Thanx for the suggestions. Pics would be great. I have seen speaker stuff there, but not sure how to make them or whatever was done.

Just cut a hole for the speaker to fit through, painted the grille to match the vinyl I used, and screwed it in place through the back of the entire door panel.

Oh, I also extended the lower part of the panel to the edge of the door instead of about 8" short of it like the map pocket was originally.

i was gonna send you to his website. i paid a custom car audio place to do my door panels and paid $900 that included a JL Audio component set in each door and they look bad ass! since the component set was $425 and custom door panels were only $475 id imagine you could get some audio place to do something there for you under $100

working on mine.....well, ok, I haven't worked on em in a while....but they are going to be fiberglass and perhaps have some of the billet parts put on (that were just posted a bit higher) (assuming I can get something custom put on there...which would be bada$$. These are going to hold my mb quart 6 1/2's

oh, and nevermind the mildew on the door panel....doh :bang:

The ones in the ebay link are nice EXCEPT the stock speaker grille looks like ASS. Therefore the entire thing is hokey, IMO. If i were to put those on, I'd definitely do something with teh grilles, they kill the niceness of the panel itself.

I was going to tilt my speaker up and out a bit, using fiberglass to make the housing, but since my speakers themselves had pivoting/tilting tweeters, I figured it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

I tore those bull**** pockets out and replaced that area with a simple cover of matt black fabric (black int). Stapled it down tightly and screwed the whole panel into the door at a few points getting rid of those useless clips that are also stock.

I'll post pics tomorrow if I remember. It's a pretty simple design, that turns out well with some effort.

Im gonna send this to the top....Im getting my car ready for a show in august and I need more ideas. My door panels are black, so I wanna do something black, should I just get some vynly for down there or what?

I dont have the pockets at all, its a carpet in my 1989 4 banger LX. I got another 4 banger for the pedal assembly and temp. 5 speed. THAT car had the pockets but the previous person installed some snaps (or was that Ford?)... Anyway the pockets aren't sagging at all.

Nice job Mansonozz

Thanks Boss.

Yea, the snaps were factory. Probably a 90-93, 91-93, or 92-93 thing since those years tend to vary slightly in a few places.

Mansonozz you said you use 1/4 mdf right? And screwed it in from the back right? Also the vinyl you stretched on the corners using a heat gun correct? Where did you get the grilles, they look like the polk momo grilles if I remember? Did the come with you speakers? I have infinity components and want to put those grilles on. I have been just looking for the grilles seperately and havent found them yet. -J
