Mansonozz you said you use 1/4 mdf right? And screwed it in from the back right? Also the vinyl you stretched on the corners using a heat gun correct? Where did you get the grilles, they look like the polk momo grilles if I remember? Did the come with you speakers? I have infinity components and want to put those grilles on. I have been just looking for the grilles seperately and havent found them yet. -J

1/4 MDF.
Screw in from the back.
They are Polk/Momo grilles.
I have Infinity speakers (cheak the closeup pic).
Had to get the grilles elsewhere.
I didn't use a heat gun for the vinyl and it still wrapped tightly. Keep it in place with some staples and you're set.

Home Depot/Lowes carries it, just ask for "MDF", it's a common term.

The worst part is I asked my girlfriend what MDF was and she knew.

What did you use to cut it so perfectly??

LOL, women...

I drew my patterns, jigsawed it out, and sanded it all down. I rounded the edges too; the vinyl wrapped nicely and curved around the edges. Sanding was a bitch even with a DA sander, MDF is some HARD stuff. I recommend a file, which I didn't have at the time. Oddly enough in the time it took me to sand it, I could've went and bought a damn file.

For just a real quick fix, I simply undid the snap, pulled out some of the elastic band, and stapled it over itself, which tightened it all up, and now they sit close to the door like they should. I suppose you could use a safety pin or something too. You can't tell unless you pull and look in the pocket.

I just did mine with carpet, and used an extra door panel I had for the chrome strip. It is the same strip up right by the window, cut down to fit the bottom.

A few pics of the work in progress:

i just seperated the whole thing from the door panel, undid the staples and dyed the whole thing black. I also did this when i was converting my vert all over to black so i already had the door panels out. You're right after 10 years of sagging in the door jam they look pretty nasty
