What do i need to run high 13s

thanx guys for all the comments. I raced my friend who ran a 14.7 at the track, an 03 gt with nittos drs and a programmer. I beat him by a car to a car and half, everytime, with me spinning pretty good and him actually hooking. I say at the track with better traction, i could get him by a little more. I was happy to beat him. well, when i get the money, i think im gonna get my upper and lower intake ported by a guy around here, If im not mistaken its 150-200 for upper and lower, He cuts the upper in half and welds it back together when hes done. Im also gonna get a pro m mass air and a 70mm throttle body, and unequal length shorties. Im hoping i break into the 13s with this setup

I don't think you should waste your time and money on TB, MAF or any of that jazz untill you fix the REAL bottleneck: your heads and cam. Seriously just pull the heads, port them yourself (or exchange them for Thumper E7's) and finish them up with a valve job and .020 mill. Then pickup the right cam, get th intake ported and you will probably net yourself a good 60+hp. You will have a screamin budget combo EASILY good for mid 13's with good driving.

Then move on to all those other smaller mods as money allows and they will really pay off.

I kinda see your concerns like this

These kinds of threads don't really mean a whole lot.

It really is all about the driver when talking about track times for the most part.

These are extremes but we got members who have around 250rwhp who are in the 12's and others with blown h/c/i cars who can't get out of the 13's.

When you are new to drag racing, you can easily take 1 full second off your first few passes after you start to get the feel for how everything is.

You really don't need a ton of power to crack a 13 sec 1/4. You got a stick and that will help a lot when stock or close to stock.

I'd tell you to get started with what you now got and start having fun.

You'll be surprised how quick you can go with a little practice and some decent sixty foots.
