Cams are pretty easy to install. I did it with the help of my dad having NO experience working on engines besides putting my CAI and catback in. As long as you're careful and read up plenty before you attempt it, it's not that bad of a task.

Let me just say this...You'd probably pay more to have LT's installed than cams, and if you did it yourself it'd probably be a bigger pain than cams as well...

I don't remember the comp cam numbers...I believe they are 282's but I'm not 100% sure. I know VT Stage1 cams are good ones to go with, that is what I personally would recommend.

More GEAR! 4.10 or 4.30. Or, be a man; some 4.56's with E/T Streets. That will get you at 13.0. You might not get the best gas mileage and cruise at 3200 RPM, but at least you can start out in third gear..... and tires, good ones. Plus upper/lower control arms.

My issue with cams is that the stock valve springs do not inspire much confidence. They can barely take the cam that is in it. If you upgrade cams, be smart and do the springs. Correct me, but you have to remove the head to do the springs on a 2V. That is what I remember. It's been three years since I seriously wrenched on a4.6, and I remember when the PI cams came out I heard more than one story of springs binding. The cams weren't mild in those days though. Just buy some heads that are already done--pp'd, cammed, and with beefier valve train.

^^^I'm not 100% on this so don't quote it as total truth but i'm fairly certain that people like hotmustang and others didn't switch springs. If your car is up there in mileage than it's a wise choice to do but otherwise it's not a necessity. I believe Stage 2's recommend it but otherwise it's optional.
