isnt it like low 14/high 13?? or is that the ls1?

reason i ask is because my friend and his girlfriend bought a 97 z28 auto, i checked it out, its a neat car and got a ride. its all stock and it had some decent power for a factory car. my car's faster but this felt pretty good, all it would really need is exhaust and bolt ons, the engine itself had enough power for a good street application. i havent got my car running in 4 months and i forgot how fast it was really.

just wondering if i was going crazy thinking it was quick

275hp from the factory. SS cars had 305 until 98 when the LS1 came along. If the cars in good shape and the opti hasnt crapped out it should be a fine car. Im no fan of the reverse flow LT1's and that sorry opti, but Ive seen plenty run damn good.

Agreed with low 14s high 13s for that auto. The auto is holding it back bigtime.

I think you guys are overestimating these cars a little bit. Especially your friends with the auto. I would put that care at mid 14's at best with that auto and MAYBE high 13's with a stick. Thats bone stock...once you start with CAI, full exhaust, and a cam its a different story. but stock they arent all that impressive.

I've personally seen a 96 with slicks and exhaust run a 13.6. It was an auto. I've also taken a couple of them on the street that were stock, or very close to it in a stock foxbody.

I've only seen that happen once and it was my notch that did it when the previous owner had it.

I had a 95 Formula. It was a bit lighter than the Trans Am and the Camaro. It was a hoss. I never ran it, but the ones identical to mine were running 8.9-9.0's in the 1/8 stock. I'd kill for that car back

Exactly what i said...high 13s with a stick....and thats a firehawk not a stock z28 with an auto. I would still put a bone stock auto in the mid 14s at best. most simple bolt on foxes (exhaust, pullies, timing...) be a very close race with a lt1.

An LS1 SS is capable of high 12's with a good driver. before everyone jumps me, grab the MM&FF from a couple years back when they put an 02 SS against an 03 Mach 1. Evan Smith hit high 12's in the Camaro. Can't remember if it was on drag radials or not. My guess is it probably was.

Most LS1's you will see in real life on the average street car night at the local strip are in the mid 13's though. The typical Joe Racer cant run them to their full potential, but then again the same goes for most cars. I couldnt get my 03 GT to go quicker than a 14 flat and I used to think I was a pretty good driver...

I've seen ls-1s with a cam and bolt ons, with drag radials and bone stock suspension run high 11s with a 1.6 60ft. Stock, high 12s with a good driver and probably tires.
