What Does The Vent Setting Do?

So dumb but hopefully easy question, does it just throw air from the outside? Without turning on the A/C? i ask because my low pressure valve needs to be fixed so there is no refrigerant in there and that can hurt the compressor.

You're all good,the vent setting is just for fresh air, when you set it to AC it kicks in the compressor ,Max AC closes the fresh air door and makes it recirculate.
Usually when the system is low/no charge the compressor will not run anyways
