what dosn't void the warrenty?

seriously thinking about going to buy an 04 gt, they are going for 13,900 around here. this will be my 3rd stang and i know ill want to mod it. what, if anything can i do to it without gettin hassled if i have to bring it in?

You should be safe with a any name brand cat back exhaust system. But you should really check with your dealer first off since I know people that have be denied warranty work because of having a cat back system. I also heard that if you use Ford parts that they can't void your warranty. You never know with those dealers though. They will say anything to get out of doing warranty work.

Yeah, depends on how nit-picky the individual dealership is in regards to mods. Some will look the other way at lightly modded cars, while others have a zero-tolerance approach. Do the research ahead of time & find out which dealerships in your neck of the woods are "mod-friendly" before having to take your vehicle in for warranty work/repair.

My dealer does work on my car and doesn't care about my mods. A few months ago they replaced the whole tranny because of a 1- 2 grind, and all he asked was if the tranny was ever opened. I guess it depends on the dealer.

depends greatly on the dealer, mine is pretty lenient with exhaust mods and simple stuff like that. Once you start messing with the engine itself, say from the plenum down, it gets dicey.

You have legal rights when it comes to warranties. They are SUPPOSED to prove that the mod cause the problem in order to deny it. The problem is that they can make up some Bull**** chain reaction theory and count on the fact that most people won't fight it, and even if they do fight it they have a lot more money to do so. I think the only thing that will stop some dealers from doing it is a class action suite. My advice would be find a reasonable dealer to work with, know your rights, and be knowledgeable about any mods you do to your car.

well thanks for the people who actually responded to the question.... and for you throwers ill scan the paper when i get outa work this is colorado, stangs dont sell too well in the winter when u get 4 feet of snow in a single storm.

Mustangs don't sell that well in Colorado because of the 4 ft of snow eh? Then explain to me how you can get an F-350 for under $20,000 or an Excursion for $25,000. Until I see a final paid invoice I'm still calling bu!!*****.
