After posting a pic tonight to the Beers of Stangnet post it got me thinking. I was on an RC forum a while ago (til last Nov. when I bought my Fox). We had a “what else are you working on” page, outside of the RC hobby. I looked around. Is there anything like that on here?

I thought there was one. It was other hobbies or something like that.

Ironically...I build RC as one of my other hobbies

Very nice! My nephews are into flying, which got me back into my 4 wheel RC.

I was into the Tamiya RC back in the day. I still have an original Hornet and Blackfoot that I got running again. Then bought a basic Arrma Raider, and spent more than I’d care to know converting it to brushless, steel gear tranny, some aluminum suspension upgrades.....etc etc. Then opportunity knocked when my cousin decided to sell his Fox, and the RC’s went on the shelf!

I build stuff. Decks, tree/play houses, decor, etc. Last night I whipped up a queen bed frame out of 4 pallets, as a queen box spring would not fit in my basement. Only took one pic of it in progress though. In this pic it’s actually in two pieces that eventually became one with a base under it to lift it off the ground.

Built an addition on my deck the first summer we moved in, while resurfacing and replacing the railings.

Recently built myself a work bench for the garage. I’m not too skilled with wood working, but this was doable for me. Legs are 4x4s mounted inside a 2x4 frame with a .5” MDF top. I got a 10 gauge plate of steel to put on top from a local steel place. Mounted that with countersunk bolts and t-nuts.

The vise is a vintage Babco I procured from an elderly gentleman who bought it over fifty years ago. It’s so nice having a proper workspace.

Long range precision rifle shooting and reloading are my other hobbies. I also competed in NRA High Power. I also modify and customize my rifles.

Prior to kids, I used to enjoy building AR platform rifles. I built a couple, and then MA made it harder and the kids showed up. I haven't even laid eyes on them in 2-3 years...haven't opened the safe in that long.

Ok, so in a previous life I was in construction. I was an electrician actually. Loved it, but ended up changing careers to engineering...so I sit at a desk.

Me and two buddies took on building a camp bunk hous extension for a family friend who lets us use their lake house one week per year for free for the last ~20 years.

One buddy is an architect. the other runs a large construction company in Boston. The three of us head to Maine every couple of months and spend 2-3 days building this. Part of the fun is we are really up in the boonies, so getting material has been a challenge.

6-room bunk. Sleeps 14, with outdoor shower, indoor shower and toilet with on demand electric water heater. Screened in common area. Updated and repaired the original 3-room bunk.

Latest pic above this past fall. Hopefully we wrap it up in spring. Planning a big get together this summer and need the space.

Here's the main house on the property. 3 bedroom. I'm standing on the lake shore. Been coming here since I was 20

That is awesome. The bunk house, the friendships, all of it. Way cool brother.

It's a fun time for sure. Out in middle of nowhere just hanging with buddies and getting stuff done. At night, we drink, solve world problems around a campfire and have the occasional bear come walking up. Love it

There's no heat so we are done for the year. We will br back late spring when snow has melted and it's not a muddy mess

Maybe the government should try the beers and campfire thing. My buddies and I have solved some world problems like that too! Always fun times!
