I AM BUILDING UP A 408 FOR MY 94 GT AND I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE THATYOU GUYS COULD GIVE ME. SO FAR I HAVE...
BLOCK
PROBE 408 ROTATING ASSEMBLY
TRICK FLOW 351 EFI MANIFOLD
C&L 76 MASS AIR METER
75MM BBK TB
BBK 351 SWAP HEADERS
MSD PRO BILLET DISTRIBUTER
FLYWHEEL AND BALANCER
CANTON OIL PAN

I WAS PLANNING ON GETTING A SET OF THE PRO TOPLINE ALUMINUM CYCLONE HEADS. BUT I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM. WOULD IT BE BETTER TO GO WITH AFR 185'S OR 205'S? ALSO I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF CAM TO RUN. WHAY DO YOU THINK THIS SETUP WILL RUN. I HAVE A TKO AND MY CAR IS FULL WEIGHT. THANKS

First, hit the CAPS LOCK button.

Next, since you are in California, you are going to have to stick with an emissions legal head. The biggest head you could use from AFR is the 185. No one can suggest a camshaft without knowing what gear ratio you have, how dependable you need the car to be, how much you drive it, and how high you want to spin it. I'd try calling Comp or any other big cam company and talking to one of their representatives.

Use the search function on here. There is more stuff to read than you have time to.

Thanks Joe.
It's going to be my daily driver so I do need it to be somewhat dependable. But I'm not worried about smog. That easily taken care of. I have 3.73's in the rear end. I would probably like to take it up to 5800-6000 rpm's.

If you really don't have to worry about smog, any cylinder head with an inline valve design will do. It's your decision. Same with the intake manifold.

What year block is it? Is it a roller block? If not, you're going to have to use retrofitted dog bone style lifters.

Once you pick the top end, someone could help with the cam. The camshaft is the last thing you worry about.

the block is 1979 so I know it's not a roller one but someone said that I could use the drop-in lifters with the bar connecting the two so I wouldn't have to do the retrofit cam. Would there be any advantages to this because all I know is that they are alot more money than the retro cam kit.

Those lifters are supposed to be able to spin upwards of 7,000rpm without any problems.

the chp stroker kit came with a cast crank. How much can they handle? How much do you guys think this setup will make? The compression is 10:1.
