what exhaust system would you go for? I like SLP...I also like the Magnapak....but was wondering what a little more cash can do?

http://www.jbaheaders.com/05mustangnew.asp This kit looks good.

Anyway...I've got two tours in Iraq under my belt and about 10K to burn....all is going to the Stang. Saleen Supercharger is going on later but as for exhaust....what would you do.

As you can see I know jack**** about modding Stangs....i'm trying to research and educate myself as fast as possible but am also eager to get going on the additions...any suggestions?

We use/sell the Bassani axle back and cat pipes. I just love the quality and sound. The SLP is nice too, but it's a bit too loud for my taste and has a more raspy sound. I have not heard the JBA setup yet. I want to try their headers, but apparently they are a little scarce right now. SLP told me yesterday (we are also an SLP dealer) they have long tubes a few weeks away, and Bassani said they are "working on" some mid lengths.

I love my Magnapaks...........

Magnaflow Express

This is where I ordered from, they were here in a couple of days, and they will also give you a discount since you are military. Mine were $400.00 total including shipping! I have had a lot of Mustangs, with different exhausts, these are my favorite. They sound great, and look good too. Save the rest of your money for your supercharger....I am!

Nice one guys, I think i'll do like the dude from Cali and just get the supercharger for add ons.....right now it's a toss up on the exhaust though.

Magnapak i think is the way to go. Initally I was all over the SLP...but as an everyday driver SLP is too loud imo.

Alright Magnapak and Saleen Supercharger...

I like MAC exhaust for the money. i've used them on 3 fox body's and one sn 95, and I think their fit and quality is great. I have the MAC mufflers on my 2005 Gt. They are full polished stainless with 4 inch rolled lip. I dont think you'll find any real power in the exhaust, just a better (louder )sound. Headers maybe, but not the exhaust. Lets face it, the stock exhaust sounds good, just looks like crap. Remember these cars stock are good for about 85 percent of the buying public...We are just the crazy ones with a need to waste money for more!! I had the car torn apart with less than a 1000 miles on it....but it was worth it.

Nick,

I changed the title of the thread so that it is more descriptive of what you are asking. Hopefully that will get more people to respond.

And THANK YOU for serving our country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the magnaflows on mine and at first I was a little dissapointed with the sound. After a week or two they did get a lot louder (not like SLP though) but I am really satisfied with them now.

I was reading 5.0 Mustang and they were raving about the Stainless Works Echaust System. $1600 with long tube, 1500 with short.

It includes 1 3/4 inch headers, a 3 inch X-pipe, and an after-cat system with 4 inch tail pipes.

It also increases horsepower by 17.8 and is said to sound awesome.

This sounds like the best route....what do you guys think?

I've noticed a LOT of people are avoiding Borla. Originally I planned for one of those, but I've yet to hear any feedback on them whatsoever. I know they're pricey, but is there something I don't know?

That's what I'm wondering. Why so few cars with Borla?

I just put the cat-back system on my car and love it. It sounds amazing, and the tips are the nicest out of any of the aftermarket kits out there. They are pretty pricey, but I got a great deal on mine since Borla is a sponsor of mine for my Chevelle and I've dealt with them over the past year.

So, what's the deal?

Kris

I am thinking that is WAY WAY too big for a N/A car-

I have built several 500hp cars, and I never needed a 3" exhaust on those- why would anyone need a 3" exhaust on a 300-400hp car?

Not to mention you are KILLING your bottom end torque which is not the thing to do on a street car-

You can get the same kind of gains by using a quality X pipe and catback without even touching the headers-

Bigger is NOT better-

I would imagine most people are avoiding Borla because you can can other systems for a lot less money with the same if not better quality-

Magnaflow or SLP! why pay all of that money for Borla when you can get the Magnapacks for half the price with way better quality not to mention even Saleen is going back to Magnaflow after all their Borla systems fell apart on the 05 The exhaust shop guy I talked to said that he gets alot of Borlas back because they crack

The Borlas on my car cracked as well that all I know

Where do they crack and how obvious is it when they do?

They have a good warranty, so I'm not extremely worried, and for me, free was the right price.

That exhaust you are talking about was installed on a car which was expecting a ProCharger. He had a Procharger installed at Pauls Automotive here in Cincinnati. (why pay someone?) Thats why he went so big.

Well see that's why I was thinking I should go big....I'm having the Saleen blower installed this summer. The article left me with the impression that its a good combo if your getting a blower...
