I have been using quicktrip premium gas -- I was over at the clublexus forum and they have been saying that shell, mobil gas is the best.

Used to use Shell exclusively, same gas station every time.
Now I don't care, I goto Hess, Cumberland, whatever.

I doubt they are very different.

I've heard it's best to use places that have their own refineries. Such as Shell, Exxon, Mobile etc. They have 100% control of the final product while resellers do not. I use a local gas station but have not been disappointed with the quality. They are 5-10 cents cheaper also.

If you have a Costco nearby with a gas station and are a member , try them. Their gas is usually about 10 cents cheaper a gallon. Been using it in my car for years and never have had a driveability problem.

Mobil/Exxon only. Never had any problems with "bad gas" with them, so I go with what I know.

Chevron mostly. I've used Wal-Mart gas though (which is supposedly the same as Texaco) because you get 3 cents off for using the a shopping card. If I'm not around there I'll use Marathon (cheaper gas) or Shell (very expensive around where I'm at)

I use Citgo & Phillips 66 (I think they are American Companys), I used to only use Amoco, but I have learned its all good as long as they have at least 93 octane.

I've heard beware the really cheap, no-name places you'll see...one of the ways they stay so cheap is by not changing the tank/hose/pump filters as often as they should.

I go to name-brand stations, preferably ones in busy areas (so you know the gas is reasonably "fresh" and hasn't had time to sit around in old tanks.

I also buy bottles of techron every now and then. I use the engine cleaners and what not also. Just changed my spark plugs after 81k miles and they could have lasted another 30k easily.

i just paid 2.159 a gallon for 87. that is the cheapest i have seen it anywhere within like 15 miles of me. i paid 2.09 yesterday as i left las vegas.

as i was leaving the gas station, i noted that i paid 13 bucks and the needle indicated i had half a tank, so i did the math and came up with that being about 6 gallons of gas for 1/2 tank. that sounds pretty low (only 12 gallons)..
anyways, doing some more thinking led me to remember that with my 5.0, i could fill up for about 23 bucks, and now a full tank costs 26 bucks. carrying that out over the course of a year, assuming 3 tanks per month at an extra 3 bucks per tank, you get 12 x 9, or 108 bucks extra a year. now figure maybe 6 million other people have had the same thing happen to them. that alone means an additional 648 million dollars in money spent on gas per year!!!!! now 6 million is a low number because we know there are more than 6 million drivers in southern california alone, but still...its kind of scary that in 2 years the gas companies have made an extra 648 million per year.
