I need some help finding out what gear ratio my 94 GT has. It's a 5 speed and someone said I have either 3:08s or 3:27s and I know there is a place to tell this in the door jam, so can someone tell me what to look for exactly and what the codes are?

my GTS 5 spd was a 2.73. Look on the differential cover, and there will be a plate held on by one of the bolts... It'll say right on there what gear ratio you have (at least thats the way mine was) If not, mark the drive shaft, rotate the tires and could how many times the tire spins for that mark to do one full rotation

Look at the sticker on the inside of the driver side door frame it will say axle code
M=2.73's
Z=3.08's
I highly doubt you have 3.27's unless it was changed mostly drop tops came with 3.27's

4th gear 75mph read the tach the RPM /10 will be your gear ratio
2730=2.73
3080=3.08
3270=3.27
This will work if you have stock gears.

Not true!All mustangs from 87-95 came with either 2.73's standard or optional 3.08's vertes and some autos had 3.27's!All you have to do as stated in my earlier post is check the axle code either inside the door frame or the metal plate on the rear!My 95 Gt had 2.73's.Not for long though!

any if for some reason your door sticker is gone, and there is no plate on the diff....jack up the rear end, put a mark on the driveshaft and spin the rear wheels ONCE....count how many times the driveshaft turns....if its a little less than 3 you have 2.73's....if its just more than 3 you have 3.08's....unless you have an auto those are the only possibilities(assuming they are stock)

Yeah it's stock. And the axle code said I had 3:08s. One of my first mods will be 3:55 or 3:73 gears since the car sees alot of highway time.

No it's inside the door jam, about halfway down from where the quarter window is.

Trust me go with the 3.73's if you had a 93 or earlier i would say 3.55's.It takes alot to get our heavy sn95's moving and the differance is only about 100 rpm's a 80 mph between the two!
