what gears are in my stang

i have a 2000 gt 5-speed, what rear end gears do i have from the factory?

should be 3:27s.

Isn't there a little metal tab attatched to the diff cover that says what size the gears are. I know they put them on trucks.

not 100% true, Mustangs could have 2.73's, 3.08's or 3.27 from the factory, just depends on the option package ordered. my 1996 which I ordered had 2.73's in it. best-bet is to look at the tag bolted to the rear axle, on that tag are some #'s saying whats in there. ie:2 L 73 = 2.73, 3 L 08 = 3.08 and 3 L 27 = 3.27 the "L" in the tag # meens its a locker (or posi).

in the 99+ though, i didnt think there was an option like there was previously. i thought all 99+s got 3.27s, except didnt the mach 1s get 3.55?

no, we had a 2000 GT automatic in here last month that had 3.08's in it and we installed 4.10's for the guy. like I said, it all depends on what option package was ordered by the dealer

There was no option for gears and no package that would.....never mind I'm not going to get started with you again.
