I was thinking of going with 3.55's with the gears, do any of you guys think that will be good, or should i go bigger gears???

What are your future plans with the car? Do you want to drag race at all, and what about the kind of mods that you have or will do?

From what I read its: nothing numerically lower than 4.10 for NA and 3.73 for FI.

Well for right now, I was just looking for better acceleration, and i was thinking about supercharger, but that is no time soon...

Depends whether you're auto, or manual, whether you plan to stay NA, or supercharg/nitrous/turbo, etc.

In my opinion, since you already have 3.27's, there'd be almost no change to 3.55's, especially just driving around on the street.

Hell, my 3.73's feel practically the same to me than my stock ones did, only I lose traction more often now.

To summarize:

5-Spd - Plan to supercharge
------------
Kenne Bell/Eaton - 3.73's
Vortech, Paxton, etc, - 4.10's

5-Spd - No plans to supercharge
------------
4.10's

Automatic - Plans to supercharge
------------
4.10's minimum

Automatic - No plans to supercharge
------------------------------
4.10's minimum, and if you don't do a ton of highway driving, I'd even go steeper, like 4.30's.

yeah... I have 3.55s and when I realized my stock gears were 3.27s I laughed as well (3.55s were in when I bought the car).

Only reason I can see for the 3.55's is some racing org's require you to use stock parts. and since some came stock with 3.55's you'd be ok. Other than that 4.10's unless your planning on turbo's or a KB.

excellent break down, I agree 100%. Take it from someone who has 3.55s - they make driving a N/A car a very lame experience

Not in my Mach they don't. Maybe some day I'll jump to the 3.90's.

yeah, your car also has a lot more balls than my crappy NPI 2v. For my own application, I don't think 3.55s are enough gear, and the same may be true for a stock 99+ GT. The 4v is a whole different beast (and i'm jealous you have one)

3:55's are only good on a 302 stang for street use, I dont know ANYBODY that has them on a modular stang, or would put them on one.

4.10s NA or FI, if traction is a problem, fix it.

PLEASE read this thread, as there is some good media in there regarding gears and the selection thereof. Thanks and good luck!

4.10's and if your going with a blower....4.10's lol auto or stick! from what I have seen from MCM Motorsports over on the modularpowerhouse forums. the 5 speed cruises at 2,500 at 75 with 4.10s. Well my auto cruises at 2,500 at about 68 maybe lower with 4.10's... Either way "Don't Fear The Gear"

I installed 73's a year after I bought my Stang. Drove it for another year and added a blower. No regrets. Know your installer. My original installer did a crap job. I went to the agency to have it reinstalled.
