Okay so I recently purchased a a 2000 Mustang GT from a guy locally. I immediately failed smog and started finding little issues that always come after the purchase, atleast for me. So I desided to clean up the engine bay and return it to stock condition. I came across a few items that either look missing or misplaced.

First off: Located on the firewall right behind the upper intake plenum. It has two hoses with a wiring connector and it looks to be connected to the egr. My question is where does this get fastened down? It basically just rests up against the firewall right now and I'm sure it bounces around while driving.

Second: I found this wire located right below the engine bay fuse panel. The wire is solid white and from what I see goes somewhere below the fuse box or past it.

Third: I was looking at a few engine bay pictures and noticed something missing from the coolant tank. What exactly bolts up to the rear?

Thanks for the help.

Can't remember the name of the part that is in the first picture....but I believe that has 2 bolts that connect it to the rear of the drivers side head. Someone else will be able to clarify it more I believe.

That last picture, there is a long skinny rod with a threaded tip on it (at least on my car this is the case) that slides into that hole and then you thread a nut over that and it connects it to the reservoir...nothing major I don't think.

I don't know, either, what the first pic is ... In the second picture, are the two wires that are taped together, the same? Meaning like if one is grey with a line, is the other wire the same (in appearance)? It looks like someone may have cut that wire and then re-connected it hella ghetto.

The radiator (as previously mentioned) is held on by a long (2 feet long I guess) piece of metal bar that is threaded on top. It connects with two bolts to the bottom of the radiator support beam (under the radiator) and curves up in front of the fan then runs through the hole and you put a nut on top.

I hope any of that makes sense ... in a hurry .. :)

Here's a picture of the way the nut goes on ... don't know if it helps or not but it's the only pic I have on this computer. I photoshopped a green arrow for whatever reason ...

The wire is just a white wire cut at the end and then capped off with some electrical tape. Its not a smooth wire, it has rib like texture that I have never seen before. It either ends at the fuse box or goes somewhere into the fenderwell. Where it ends, I have no clue. The rear piece from picture one only has one side to mount and it's plastic. Won't it get damaged on a hot head? The last one must have that metal piece missing because there is nothing near it now.

Did you get codes pulled (or a reason) for your smog failure?? (EDIT -NM I read your other post) :)

+1 The DPFE sensor usually bolts to the firewall.

That loose wire was probably for some aftemarket device the previous owner had installed.

+1 for coolant tank support rod.

Thanks for the help guys. Previous owner had a front end collision a while back and it appears whoever put it back together decided to half ass the job. Found out today that the three metal brake lines following the radiator to the master cylinder are bent to s***. I'm going to call ford this afternoon to get a quote on the parts. If its too much I'll just end up picking up the kit froms jegs and bend it myself.
