WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A FUEL PUMP STOPS WORKING.."SERIOUS HELP"...PLEASE!!

Ok, this is my only ride to work, so I need to have this fixed .I was driving last night in 3rd and was accelerating hard, when the car just suddenly shut off all together. and now all she does is crank like a mother f....I checked all the fuses, and there is fire going to the plugs as well. Now my next thought is a FUEL PUMP. this morning when i turned the key, I didn't hear the pump turn on. Ok how hard is it to replace the pump, is there only one pump thats in the tank, or is there two pumps.(is the only fuel pump on the car in the tank) If someone can help me I would be extremely greatfull.

what kind of fuel pump would I need,...unless there's something else it could be..

You have one pump and it's in the tank. Check your fuel reset switch first just in case.

there's one pump, and you'd need to get replacement from ford $$. if you get a high performance pump without reprogramming the ECU, you would get some problems.
