Ok the few times ive pushed my car (its auto) to see waht she can do I hear a really bad squealing noise for a moment when the rpms go all the way up like the belt spins too fast or something. What is it. Have I hurt my motor? I obviously am not gonna push it that hard again but Im just curious as to what I have done.

That's just belt slip man, no big deal at all.

Get a Goodyear Gatorbelt and it will not do it anymore.

Temporary fix……

Belt dressing is only for V style belts. It is not for use with the types of belts Mustangs have. It says this right on the side of the can.

BTW Dew, can you post the pics of that weird A-arm issue you found a while back???

I did not know that........... a couple of years ago the belt on the Mustang started to squeal so I stopped by napa picked some up, sprayed it on, vuala, but I changed the belt 2 days later.

Anyway

I just deleted that pic from photobucket last week but I think it's still on the computer at work, If so I'll pm it to you tomorrow.

Suspension issues?

its a 2 door rwd car with a V8.

its supposed to be pushed hard.

not when you like to take care of the things you pay for :)

see that car in my sig? im sure one day its engine with forged and coated guts and big turbo are gonna crap out on me someday. i paid for em to use em, if ya dont use em there ain't much sense in payin for em.

cars actually run better when you get on em regularly. i've never had any problems with any of the cars i've owned and they all get ran hard.

if driving hard was going to break your engine stangnet would be a pretty depressing place.

^^Troof!

Someone posted once how they did a headswap and prior to the first removal of the heads, he had babied the car and the pistons/cylinders/heads were carboned up very bad. Several months/long span of time later he removed the heads again but had been "beating the piss" out of the car that time, everything was MUCH cleaner than it was when he babied it.

yeah, as long as you have good oil delivery and the right tune you can run an NA engine pretty much as hard as you want. this goes double for ones that have been DESIGNED for sports cars.

Well first of all I dont have a big turbo with forged and coated guts. I have a daily driver that i rely on. I know these cars can be beat to **** and still drive well. I was just saying that im my situation, when pushing it hard, I heard something that obviously wasn't right, and I wanted to get it fixed. Clearly if I was babying it I wouldn't have heard the belt slipping. IMO for a daily driver I would rather take my chances with a car Ive babied than beat on, but thats just me.

well i just assumed you came here for advice and while you may not have wanted to hear that its okay to drive hard i think you needed to hear it (and others seem to agree). you're right, you dont have a big turbo, you have what i asssume is a STOCK NA V8 with an auto.

you can't break that, if its gonna break its already broken.

are u kidding me. Everyone has an opinion and way of treating their car. You beat on yours, I baby mine. but simply put I came here for advice on what the noise was. You said cars can be beat on and drive nice. Great, I agree. I wasn't trying to bash anyones input I appreciate it all, just simply stating I will drive my car how I wanna drive it becuase IMO I say my engine has a greater chance of a longer life babying it than beating on.

you're getting defensive when all im doing is giving you some advice. dont take it so personally, dude, im not talkin down to you. yes an engine will probably last longer if you dont go over 3K and never got WOT. sure, the more you use a hinge the more it gets worn but did you buy a mustang GT to get 500K miles out of it or have a pretty quick car that could look cool and go fast?

i am not commenting on how effective being gentle would be in promoting a longer life but merely that you might want to consider that it is the quality of the miles on the journey, not the quantity traveled.

eh, i bought it cuz i always wanted one. I like to have fun in my car. Obviously since I was originally pushing in order to hear the noise in the first place. Wasn't trying to get at you. Problem gets fixed, I can have fun again and still treat it well.
