I recently found a mustang on craigslist for cheap. But it was about 500 miles away. The owner told me that it was not running and that it needed a fuel pump, and thats it. He sent me tons of pics of it and from the pics I thought that it looked pretty good. He said that it had been rearended but had been fixed. Well I agree to come look at it and make the 500 mile trip down to buy it. So I get there and start looking at the car. The first thing I look at is the rear end where it had been wrecked. The decklid had been straightened out but the trunk did not seal. Whoever did the body work (if you can call it that) had been snifin too much paint thinner. They used bondo on the bumper cover! Needles to say there was about a 10 inch crack in the bumper through about a 1/4 inch of bondo. At this point I am a little irritated but not pissed,,,,yet. I work my way around the car and notice some small cracks in the front bumper. I pop the hood to find wrinkles on the fender aprons and bright orange numbers writen on the intake. So it had been wrecked in the front also and has a junkyard motor. Looked underneath and could see that it had been towed by the radiator core support, which is now v shaped. Now I am getting upset. So I get my can of starting fluid and have him turn it over while I spray. Dead battery. Get jumper cables hooked up. Wont start because of a jerry rigged security system. Finaly get it fired up and runs for a few min. Has a knock. At this point I dropped my pants and leaned over the fender to take it in the a$$. I drove 500 miles for this pile. I am just sick to my stomach. So I couldnt make a trip like that and go home empty handed. So I offer him 700 and he takes it. So title in had and POS on the trailer, I am headed home.
I get it home buy a battery, rip out the security system, buy an 97 explorer motor to rebuild and put in it. Then I found a longblock out of a 94 cobra for 600 beans without the intake but only 15k on it. Couldnt pass that up. It was only about 90 miles away so I wouldn't feel bad about coming home empty handed. Picked it up. Great guy yo deal with, gave me more than he had to. Beautifull cobra also. 418 w, only 30k on the car. Soooo
The reason this is all in the tech section.....I am pulling my stock motor out and have just gotten my upper intake off and I am looking for the ait sensor on the number 5 intake runner and there is nothing there. Just a undrilled boss. I was under the impression that all 94 95 mustangs had these. Could this motor not be from a mustang? It doesnt look like there are any wires cut off or extended to the intake tubing. Do I not need to wory about it since its just not there?
Sorry bout the long post. Any help is greatly apreciated.
