The cable gets in the way of all headers. Some more than others. If you are using a regular cable you have to route it forward over the header then down under and back. towards the clutch fork. If you are using the moderndriveline.com kit, I don't know. But the cable that kit comes with, if you need a replacement you can't buy over the counter. You need to order it from modern driveline. I think mose people find away to shield the cable and tie it away from the headers. I'm using headman shorty 351w conversion headers in my 66. They come close to the #5 exhause tube. I took a piece of steel pipe, cut a slit into it and shaped it into a j bracket, drilled a hole into the long flat side of the "j". I bolted that to the shock tower an it guides the cable away from the #5. Towards the end of the cable I used a spark plug wire heat shield. The cable is a little melted from earlier. Before this mod, after driving the car the housing would melt a little. Then, after cooling down it would harden around the cable and it was hard to engage the clutch. I had to break it loose by pressing on the pedal hard..

Thats exactly what I did and it seems to work enough to keep the cable from being destroyed. I have Heddman full length headers and they hit not only at the #5 but also at a header that runs right next to the cable boss in the bellhousing. So maybe not the best headers for that application. The only other soultions that i've heard are stock manifolds or shorty headers.

I cut a primary tube off my headers and rewelded it out of the way. Plenty of clearance now....
