I would like to know some opinions on what Shorty headers would be best for my settup. I have Pypes off road x-pipe and Pypes Violator Mufflers and 2.5in turndowns... What would be the best shorty headers to throw on and where is a good place to get them from?

ive always been a fan of the bbk shorty headers, ive put those on so many different exhaust setups ive never had a problem, check em out on summitracing.com
there pretty cheap for a brand new set, or try craigslist, even cheaper on there...

FMS headers

The most expensive, but they are the best quality i've ever seen.

I have BBK's and they look like crap after a couple years. Now i'm going to buy the FMS P headers and then ebay my BBK's.

I would personally go with a ceramic header.

Do a ceramic header and don't do an equal length header. IMO, equal length headers are more trouble than their worth.

I'd use equal length bassani. They are clean, neat, high quality, fit well and the finish lasts pretty long.
Equals aren't much more trouble.
Takes a few more minutes to install, because you have to loosen the ps motor mount, while that sounds like a PITA, it's not.

Steer clear of cheap sets, especially mac.

I have JBA shorty headers that are coated. They are a very well made quality header but not cheap, FRPP headers also get my vote. The main warning with equals is they tend to sit very close to the frame section and can burn off the paint and cause bubbling/rust . I've seen it on a few cars and for the slight power gain over unequals not worth IMHO, that being said 2000xp8 is spot on about the quality of bassani products. A cheap header of poor design can allow gases to be sucked back up into the cylinder, basically stealing some power away.

The reason I say equal length headers are more trouble than they're worth is because the power gain over unequal length shorties is negligible, and if you're looking to maximize performance out of a header swap, you should really be looking into long tubes anyway.

Also, my BBK equal length shorties have had nothing but clearance issues since the day I installed them. Mine bump the steering shaft and the K member on the passenger side. I've tried standard engine mounts and convertible mounts, and even tried shimming, nothing gets them to clear 100%.

That's just my experience with my BBK junk, I can't really speak for other brands.

He's got the cheapest, lowest quality exhaust available. I don't think he's interested in quality.

But the cheap Summit stuff and be done with it.
