What hp does stock GTs dyno at w/ the 4R70W

Best I saw was an 04 auto dyno 217hp on a dynojet - that was really high. They should get about 208hp.

Note that gears will knock a few hp off the dyno measurement.
 
If the car is making 260bhp, then:

A stock 5 speed with 15% drivetrain loss should dyno 221rwhp.

A stock auto with 20% drivetrain loss should dyno 208rwhp
 
well it varies on how much power is being delivered to the wheels on some it may be less others it may be more when i dynoed my car bone stock i put down 215WHP and 265ft/lbs of tq i need to dyno my car to see where im at right now before i do my cams and headers
 
Seems like most dyno UNDER 220.

Tom, gears dont REALLY decrease RWHP, but the dyno shows this due to its load or something. If you dyno in 3rd it will usualy dyno about 10RWHP lower...almost teh same thing as puuting in 4.10s and dynoing in 4th. Your still putting the power to the ground, but its not reading all of it.

Afraid not. Autos put less power to the wheels, fact. Torque is effectively the "power" (in fact, energy) per rev. If the hp is lower, the tq at the same rpm is lower too.

Lower rwhp and fewer gears makes the stock auto slower than the 5 speed (assuming the 5 speed driver can drive).

A shift kit, gears, and a high stall really make up for the power loss.
 
Mine dyno'ed 205hp/238tq on a dynojet :nonono: That's the lowest I've seen ANY 99+ stang dyno. I sometimes wonder if it was dyno'ed in the wrong gear though..

Yep. When I had Magnaflow CB, Predator tune, and 4.10 gears, I made ONLY 211hp/250tq; just a 6hp/12tq jump from my bone stock #s. I'm guessing the gears was the main reason. So I'm assuming with stock gear ratio, I'd be around 220hp then and 380-ish rwhp now.

So what would be a good stall speed for a DD?

Nope hp is the energy or power created at that rev point, there are several ways of measuring power, we use horsepower, germans use ps, british use bhp some places use kW which is the most apt. The torque is a force, it is not the power, as seen it is measured in the units lb/ft or Nm. Horsepower is a function of torque, not the other way round.

A lot of the time manuals are faster, but not quicker through the 1320. What I am trying to say that they get the same time but the auto will be trapping at lower mph.

Nope. Thats stupid.. its math... of course its true in reverse! Hp and torque are directly proportional at any given rpm. You know tq and rpm, you know power. You know power and rpm, you know torque.

Nope, Torque is not a force. A force would be measured in Newtons or lbs. Foot x lbs, or N x m, is a measure of Work (energy).
Rate of work (I.e. times it by the rev rate) is power.

Its pretty damn simple but so many people are confused by hp and tq:
