I was just wondering what a good intake would be for a pretty much stock car. All I have is a K&N, BBK X-pipe, and Flowmaster cat-back. I'm not really planning to do anything too serious for a while.

My vote is the edelbrock performer. I added one to my car in addition to a 65mm TB, and headers and went from a 14.6 at 94mph to a 14.3 at 97.2. I then added drag radials and a homemade CAi and dropped to a 13.83 at 98.5mph, and this is in my 'vert.

my vote is for a gt-40, but they tend to be on the expensive side even for a used one. ford sells that cobra repoduction intake for pretty cheap, but its not the 94-95 specific. I am not sure what you would have to do to get it to work, It might just be cost effective to get a performer, holly systemax, or the trick flow.

MM&FF just did a shootout between the cobra nd the BBK SSI, and the SSI made a few more ponies on a stock motor with stock E7 heads. But they are expensive and hard to come by.(herd they backordered for months) But they do come with new fuel rails which is a plus.

For a stock headed mustang I would vote send your intake to Tmoss and have him port your lower. For bang for the buck and max effort with your current setup as well as dollar to match that setup its going to be REAL hard to beat for the price.

Even with up to stock unported gt40 heads I would still vote Tmoss stock lower. Before my gt40's were ported I ran my stock lower that was ported by Tmoss and the ports were as perfect a match as one could get without having the heads right there...I was realy shocked at how well they lined up/matched. With that setup and TFS 1 cam I ran a 13.5 or 13.6 @ 102 with a horrible 60ft. the one and only time I ran that setup at the track. My best stock longblock prior with pullies/catback/14*/3.73's was 14.3 so it worked well.

performer, That would be the best choise for now and in the future

next best would be a gt40 or cobra

dont do a typhoon or RPM with stock heads. and I dont like the trick flows at all

It is a logical step for your next mod, along with pulleys and gears and Drag Radials. Huge diff

Some on here will tell you that maybe I am not the best to give intake advise (hence BBK SSI I bought for my combo) but if your looking for a cheap intake a good Cobra intake can be had on Ebay for $300-350.

How about a different perspective

To me this says it all :)

Unless you get a killer deal on something used that will work for your mild combo now, you're gonna be spending more money :(

When you step up to the "serious" combo later .................

Your gonna sell the mild intake for a serious intake.

Make your long term plans ................

Buy only the intake that will fulfill those plans and save money ;)

That is if ........... money is an issue here :)

yes all you need is an elbow adapter. they cost about $100 but sometimes you can find them on ebay for cheaper. or you can do a fox body throttle swapp but that will probably cost more than the adapter. do a search on the fox body throttle swapp if your interested.

here's the best upper intake you can get:
