i cant tell exactly what is leather and what is plastic in my 2000 vert. i know the seats and steering wheel are leather, but exactly what else?
i dont want to detail plastic with leather cleaner and vice versa.

Only the steering wheel and shifter handle is authentic leather. The seats aren't real leather

I thought the seating surfaces of the two front seats were leather ?

Solid Snake, it's a shame what you did to that avatar.

Surely the "leather seats" are leather? If not then I got a deal on my leather job - leather all round.

To the original poster:
Dont get confused by everyone saying different things. The actual seating surfaces of the two front seats are real leather, along with the steering wheel and shifter knob. The backs/sides of the seats and the rear seats are simulated leather. (try putting heavy crap all over the back seats, they come right back to shape and won't wrinkle... don't try that with the real, yet extremely cheap, leather seating surfaces)

The rears seats haven't come in leather from the factory since around 1997. Changing them from leather was one of many "cost cutting" steps the bean counters did to the Mustang around then. Of course, the leather seating option price didn't drop a single penny either.

Untrue, my 1999 "Limited" has silver leather INSERTS in the rear seats. Although, the rest of the back seat is vinyl.

Are you sure? While I guess anything is possible, I don't see anything on that website that specifically states that the rear seats will have leather too. Even the '03/'04 Mach 1 has vinyl rear seat inserts which match (rather well), the leather front seat inserts.

Yes, its leather. Same for the door inserts. It is also covered in leather. The seats covers in the 99 "Limited" were out sourced(installed on the standard GT seat) and shipped back to Ford for installation.

One of the reasons I like my lowly "Deluxe" edition...nice cloth > cheap leather/vinyl.

My 1996 fully equipped GT Convertible only has leather on the front seating surfaces, steering wheel and the shift knob which I added after the fact. The rest of the interior is vinyl and plastic. This is not all that uncommon, a lot of BMW’s, Audis and other much more exotic cars are equipped the same or contain no leather at all. I will grant that the Ford leather is very poor quality. That being said I can hardly wait to see a live production 2005!

I love BMW's term for vinyl..."leatherette". Wonder who they're fooling...

Damn, talk about confusion. When I bought my new GT take-out seats from Saleen, they informed me they were all vinyle, no leather.
