I will probably never do a heads or intake swap but I could pull off a cam swap. I have heard a lot of good things about the 2031, or even the Steeda #19. These two cams are supposed to treat the stock ECU nicely and not introduce any driveability issues. However, what are they really worth? 10hp at 5,000rpm? That wouldn't be cool!
What is a Crane 2031/Steeda #19 worth on a stock Cobra motor?

I've heard good things about the Steeda 19 but dont know much about it. I'm currently looking into the crane 2031 cam as well for my cobra. It has more low to midrange power. Not really a top end/high rpm sort of cam. If thats what you're looking for look at the TFS stage 1. As far as power, on a stock 94/95 cobra motor its around 10-15whp. Check the sticky at the top of the forum for kinds of different cam specs. I'm looking on the Crane website and found the 2031 and valvesprings coming together as a kit for $250. While you're down there, you might as well do the timing chain and check up on your lifters as well. Later.

Tip -- don't assume you won't have to chip it. Some cars don't like any cam, even a #19. And the Cobra EEC is pretty conservative anyway, a chip would make worlds of difference in how it feels.
I wouldnt go through the work of changing ONLY a cam.. Our cams with fairly stock setup are not "that" bad. I think (and it's my own personal opionion) that the cam is as good as the heads combo you are running it with.

I have the steeda cam in my car, it works great with the computer. I didnt have any idle problems with the cam. I can tell the diff. in the car with pulling from 2500-up. But Im switching to the TF stage 1, when I do my tw head swap.

In the case of a GT, I'd agree. But the Cobra does have a pretty weak cam, and the heads are a little better than E7's so I think he'd actually see some benefit with a good aftermarket cam.94GTLaserRC said:

i'm in the same boat as Noboby, i got a 94, all basic stuff, full exhaust, intake, pro-m, pullies, TB, frp, and i'm not changing the manifold or heads anytime soon. i really don't want to change the springs, but if needed i will. i've even heard a wolverine and tfs cam doing good?? thanks guys (don't mean to jack your thread Nobody)
