What is a good tow rig?

True dat!

We did that for a bit too... But a 2,000 lb trailer + a 3300 lb car = over the L's limit :( It did very nicely though! :nice:
I have an older lightning :p

Quote from SVT website:
Entering the full-size sport truck marketplace in 1993, the SVT F-150 Lightning brought a more balanced approach to high-performance pickups. Instead of focusing only on straight-line acceleration, Lightning added sporty handling and towing functionality to the mix, allowing it to lap a closed racecourse as fast or faster than a Mustang GT of the same vintage, or to tow up to 8,400 pounds. Developed by the F-150 team and given to SVT to market, the Lightning featured a high-output 351 cubic-inch V8 rated at 240 horsepower, good for 0-60 mph sprints in the mid 7-second range and quarter-mile times in the mid-15’s.

Not the lightning, but still a sweet setup....found it over at svtperformance....im jeleous

I agree....that was my first work truck 13 years ago, and it was by far the most reliable torqey f-150. I used to tow a dual axle 5 ton trailer with a 6000 lb machine on it. I just couldn't keep tires on the front of it.

If money is tight, I would look for a 2wd longbed 1/2 ton with a striaght 6, it will pull a car and trailer with out any problems, and you find a straight 6 1/2 ton about anywhere.

If you can afford it go Diesel!
