Not an expert at drag racing wheel physics and best set ups

For drag racing .... less is more .. obivously. 17" is good but most switch out {smaller} when they get to the track for more tire and side wall flex.

I'd put my money on 17x9 for the front and 17x10.5 for the rear. That way you can run some 315's which should hook fairly well at the track. The 17's will still hold excellent in the corners too.

Jon, I agree with you on that setup....now the hard part....I want a rim that weighs less than 18 pounds in that configuration....I know the steeda's weigh 17 pounds in the 17x9 any suggestions.....the car has a cobra r hood cobra r front fascia cobra r wing so it has to fit that scheme....how much do the 2000 cobra r's weigh?

The 315's should clear no problem. There may be a tiny rub if you hit a corner HARD, but not unless you are at the limit.

As for light wheels, the Pro Star XP wheels are light!! I am not sure how they'd hold up under extremely hard cornering though??
