What Is Louder, Foxbody Or New Edge?

They are the same pretty much.

I had the same exhaust on my 03GT that I have on the fox. Tone is different, but volume was about the same. At least I couldn't tell the difference, and for a short time I did drive them at the same time.

Exhaust setups were stock cat mid-pipe and Flowmaster American Thunder cat-backs.

I miss my '03 GT

That's because most of us have been brought to believe that fuel should equal horsepower and further believe that the exhaust note generally takes care of itself. lol

That said.... :chin

An 03 GT has more valve events than a 302. This leads me to believe that the more frequent (and smaller) valves will reduce noise. The old push rod 302 has fewer events and larger valves. I would guess that it would make more noise because there is significantly more mass being released over less time at each valve event.

I'm assuming stock blocks and 8 pipes coming right off of the exhaust flange with no collector.

There used to be a say'n: if you can't make it fast, make it loud, now thats not meaning to insult you, it means don't take a factory stock car, truck or suv and make it loud to give the impression it's fast, more hp/ torque requires better flowing exhaust= louder, that's not to say your car ain't fast but slp and widow maker 'mufflers' were designed for racing, yes they are loud, destroy your hearing and annoy the people around you.
In short, if it's loud it needs to be fast too.
