What is needed for starter to turn?

What are the bare essentials needed for me to bump my starter over? I took the entire car down to the chassis, just got the electrical hooked back up and got power and fuel pressure....As long as I have battery power....and the starter cable connected I should get a crank right?

That can work, but you will get some sparking so watch it.

Are the battery and starter grounded?

Yes, battery is in trunk, with ground going through the floor and bolted to frame rail.....then from there 1ga wire to the block, at this point on the block the starter is also grounded.....then 4g ground from the block to the chassis

All that is required for the starter to crank is power to the correct places. If your battery, starter, ignition switch, and starter solenoid (as well as associated wiring) are all good, then it should crank. If you have a manual car, there is a lockout on the clutch pedal too. If that switch is bad, it could prevent cranking.

HAHA, im an idiot...and I drive a 5spd subaru every day......to busy focusing on everything else I didnt push in the clutch, how about I give that a try first! lol

SoylentGreen, nice catch. I thought the starter and battery were out of the car and being rigged together for testing.
