Does anyone know what the owners manual states as far as maximum capacity?

My convertible holds 15.4 Gallons and typically goes for about 300 miles on a tank of gas.

Are you sure it's 12.5? Maybe for the 4-cylinders?

I am pretty sure my car holds 15.4

Edit: Two owners of some fast track stations in Metro Detroit recently got busted for riging the pumps to be something like 5% off

All Mustang tanks since '82 have been 15.4 Gallons. '79-'81 tanks were 12.5.

How does a fact-question thread end up with 14 posts? Mike is right.

I've compiled a list to recap this thread:

No, I say 15.399 because of contaminates built up in the tank.

Well we're not all as good as you HISSIN
However I would note that the most i've ever been able to get in my tank on bone empty (ala wont even start) was 12.5

Me too!

Darthcual, I was just playing around. Any owners manual or factory manual has the spec.

One should never be able to actually run a tank 'dry'. Also, with many newer tanks, there is a void at the top which is to remain empty - it still takes up volume though.
