i was wondering if it is possible to launch a car with nos, because first gear is so short, and, also do i have to wait till what rpm to hit the button again. thanks
most people wait w/ nitrous until their final gear for the strip... but you CAN use it basically whenever, but shifting will kill all that boost... so, if you really need to, 2nd would be good, and again in 3rd after the shift if your engine can handle it... 1st is just too short of a gear for it though...
The min rpm should be 3K and no more than about 5700 on a stock motor and this applies for any gear. If you are going to run it at the track with it then get good tires and use it from launch to finish. Nitrous on the street is usually not a good idea since it makes lots of torque and things can go wrong and you can end up in a wreck. Had a buddy who's gas pedal stuck to the floor mat and this left it at WOT with the nitrous on due to the WOT switch and he was about to hit a curve at triple digits. It came loose just in time and he got slowed down but it was just about too late. After going through this in the pass seat I never used it on the street unless I was alone on the road and there were no curves for miles.

3000? I assume that means that you can't use nitrous out of the hole in an automatic? I can't hold more than about 1900 before my tires begin to spin and thats with drag radials. I need stickier tires I guess...or a trans brake.

Nope you need a higher stall converter. A 2500-2700 stall will stall much at 3000 or above if you leave on the nitrous due to the torque. If you add a trand brake to a stock trans and then use nitrous expect parts to fly to hell very quickly.
what kind of kit are you planning on getting or you have? I feel the best and safest would be the type that is throttle possition operated...
I know when i had my zex kit i would leave the line at a high idle on street tires... Between the moment I floored it and the time it took the nitrous to flow from the solenoid to the combustion chamber, the engine had enough time to reach 3000 or higher.
It stayed on till i let off to shift and came right back on through the rest of the gears..
Some kits don't come with that of coarse but i believe you can buy them extra for almost any kit..
Also... Nitrous is most effective in lower rpms and gears.. You will hardly notice nitrous in 4th gear, especially if you used it in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I don't know if thats do to so much air flowing in and out of the heads at higher rpms or what? But i was sorta disapointed when i first used nitrous on the street and at the end of the 1/4 mile.
IF you have traction though... Hold on that is the best feeling in the world launching on nitrous... It picked up one of my front tires that i know of with my 331 with just a 100 dry shot and my MT drags...
get a window switch set it to around 3200 set it to shut off about......well depends on where you shift if you shift close to fuel cut, set it to about 6000
if not I would set it where your shift light is/would be since you shift a lil after that.
Moneypit94 is right...I use a throttle switch on mine. If you plan on running nitrous at the track you will have to get the feel for the switch and when it will activate. Normally I leave the line at part throttle and quickly ease into the gas allowing the engine to get above 3000 Rpm's before I hit full throttle. Also never run nitrous with anything less than FULL THROTTLE.
