I put on an RPM intake yesterday on my car, and everything is bolted up except I can't get the piece by the throttle body to go on. I don't know what it's called. It's kinda round, goes onto 2 Carb studs and has a pipe coming from it going down to the passenger side exhaust header. I can't seem to get it to fit onto the TB adapter, I've cursed, made up words you've never even heard before, and I still can't get it..

What is this stupid thing and how the hell do I get it on?!

Thats your EGR tube...It needs to be connected.

The intake didnt come with a new one, or the headers?

Undo the tube from the EGR and loosen it from the header. Install EGR valve then try to snug it up. If not, you'll have to get creative and lengthen the tube. Seal it up though, or else the car is gonna have exhaust leaks and sound like a lawn mower...

Join the crowd with the broken pipe.

Needta either make a new pipe or cap it and cut it off in the PCM.

get some heater hose and 2 hose clamps...done. YOu may want to cut off the crimped ends tho as they may tear the hose. I've heard of people using natural gas line (like for the stove) too.

I have noticed that if you heat it with propane or mapp gas it bends much easier....but too late for that now.

Go to lowes and get 2 5/8" flare caps fromthe plumbing section, apply somehigh temp RTV to the threads inside the cap and screw them on. Now you have blocked the EGR and no need for the tube anymore.

I heard it will throw a Check Engine Light and will also affect my fuel consumption if I do this.

It's a V8... we don;t need no stinking mileage...

You are right though... I took mine off completely and then tricked the compouter into thinking it is stuck partway. It puts so much timing in down low that I have to run premeium gas... When I get a twEECer this is one of the first changes I am going to make (turn this off). My EGR was never gettign a vacuum signal so it was never opening, then when I broke the pipe, case closed...

Props to fopar....I have never done the heater hose thing myself, I was actually able to bend my hose properly. But anyways, flexible metal gas line would work and that shouldent burn up.

something like this...not exactly what is pictured but you get the idea. Just get the proper diameter for your egr pipe.

50resto has new ones IIRC thats where I got mine that thing ain't cheap its 50 some bucks for that stupid pipe. You can cap it as others have said BUT if you have emissions you need it connected. They also make adapters to make it longer if need be.
