What Is This Part Name?????

Hey guys. Can anyone tell me the exact name of this part so i can purchase a new one. Its an 84 GT Mustang hatch. The bushing is split right through. It is at the drivers rear and sits under the rear end like a support arm. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

I've never seen the like. Almost looks like a precursor to a sway bar.

Pretty sure that's not factory. All that is.. is a version of the old school slapper or traction bars they used to put on leaf spring cars to stop axle wrap up. No telling who makes them.

Agreed. That lca is going to flex as much as the axle.

The technical term is "anti-tramp bar". They're basically slapper-type traction bars designed to limit windup-induced wheel hop. They came on '82-83 and early '84 GT's, after which they started using quad-shocks instead.

There you go. I knew someone here had a clue, and I knew it wasn't me. Now I know. I need to see if it's on the '83.

Thanks guys for the ideas. I searched and searched until i came up with the same conclusion re tramp bars reading about specs for the 83 84 models. Now i just need to find them and being in Australia makes it a tad more difficult. Love the net! If anyone can tell me where to buy i would appreciate the tip. CJ Pony dont have them and didnt give me any tips. Look forward to any suggestions. Thanks guys!

@MFE92 That's pretty cool, man. I even had an 84 and still have never seen one. Guess mine was a later car, or had been removed?

Anyway, @Scott Murphy I just spent about 30 minutes looking for factory replacement parts for those and found didly. In fact, the only ones I found were a complete set of origional bars for sale on ebay. I would say if you are dead set on replacing that part good luck with your search, but if you aren't concerned with keeping it factory, the need for those can be eliminated with aftermarket suspension upgrades. Look into tubular lower and upper control arms with poly bushings. They do wonders for wheel hop. I'm sure MFE can contribute a ton more useful info here than me, though!

I would only do it if you're hard pressed for originality. Otherwise you're way better off with a good set of upper and lower control arms.
