My brain is not functioning right now, however, you can take it off. It is used to operate a mechanical fuel pump. That is why it is not centered. Sorry about the name. I am sure someone else here will chime in.

It is the fuel pump eccentric. The off center moves the fuel pump arm up and down causing it to pump fuel.

thats the oil slinger!!!!!

The oil slinger is a thin metal disc that deflects the oil away from the crankshaft seal. The oil that lubricates the timing chain is pumped toward the crankshaft seal at high pressure and very high volume.

Yes, you should have clearance issues if you use a SN95 timing cover.

:OT: Shane, great to see you back in here.

Take the eccentric off. It will hit the back of your SN95 front engine cover.

Thanks JT, haven't been back very long. Just got back from a deploymet. I'll be creeping around in the background though.

It will indeed have clearance issues, as I have tried this before.

You should be able to use the same bolt with no problem. But if anything use a washer the thickness of the mating surface of the eccentric, should push come to shove, but I dont think it will.

To be honest I can't remember. That was quite a few years ago, and I had a blown 95 engine, so I had parts to laying around. I am pretty sure we used the same one though without an issue. Good luck............
