what is up with 5.0 guys?

Other Mustang owners actually look at you? Sometimes I think I have a disease when it comes to other Stang owners out on the street. At any rate I find the S197 guys to be the worst when it comes to no love.

Speaking of 5.0 I still find people who are amazed that they no longer put the 4.6 in the Mustang or think the 5.0 is available and I have the smaller engine. Even had someone think I had a V6. The one that blew me away was someone who had a 5.0 and had no idea they have been putting a 4.6 in them for 10 years now.

Had it happen with an SN95 that runs around my town with a cowl hood. I've seen him a couple of times, as we met I could see him glancing my way and about the time I started to give him the nod he looked away. I'd like to stop him and see what he's running though.

I'm the same way about checking out any and all Stangs, even V6's.

Im an ex-fox guy and I still love them. But bolt on to bolt on I cant beat my 4.6. I woulda never ran the times in my old foxes that my car is running now with just some simple bolt ons. But my car def. does not get the attention the fox did, most people just drive by me and think nothing of my car now, its just "another GT"

I was a 5.0 not too long ago, and the other 5.0 guy's always acted like they had a chip on their sholder. Like their car was faster than all others. The funny thing is if you go to any dragstrip here in sc all you see is 5.0's and they all run about the same. I hardly ever see a 4.6. That's why I bought one.

Ha, funny thing. Today on the highway i was merging and looked over to the 3rd lane and there was this primered/multicolored 5.0 moving along. In it were 4 16-18 year old kids.

SO i'm merging WOT and getting up to speed and they are coming by my door and give me a rev. All you hear is loud exhaust leak and what sounded like cherry bombs.

So we were cruising for 5-7 miles in traffic when the highway opened up. I ended up behind them through the traffic and when it opened up they moved over into the middle lane. I was in 4th gear just cruising at 70MPH.

Well when i got next to them they dropped a gear and punched it but didn't really go anywhere. I dropped to 3rd (i was kinda waiting for it) and just totally left them behind like they were standing still.

They didn't try after that.

Still, i feel bad because I own a 5.0 myself.

Well, I used to run an 87 with a healthy amount of mods, but I showed love to everyone. I also showed them my rear bumper lol, all except the 4v crowd. Now, I still love my old 87, but it was a brute. My 04, on the other hand, is well on it's way to surpassing anything I ever had in the 87 for much less cost, and this car is so much more refined. But anyway, there's just something about driving a pushrod 302 that just makes you feel like you can take on the world, there's just no need to be a dick about it. Also, I have to agree, the S197 crowd seems to show no love around here, but I chock it up to most of them being new to Mustangs, and they haven't figured out the code of conduct yet, a handwave, a headlight flash, or a quick rev to say hi.

LOL I had a guy in a old foxbody try to race one night. His had to be stock casue I let him take off first, then I went like 2-3 seconds after he did, I couldn't believe it, at first I thought I he got off it, casue I blew by him like he was still. Well, I pull into a hess station, and go inside. The guy pulls into the station to get gas, and When I came outside, he wouldn't even look in my direction. I was gonna compliment him or somthing, but he wouldn't look. I pull out and back up, to see him look at me and I heard him yell something. I pulled up beside him and asked him what he said, he replied " You New edge guys think your all hot sh** with your modualr moters don't you!?" So, I said, "I don't have to think about it, I know it as a fact." just to piss him off, I proceeded to heat the pavement up with my 275/40/zr17 tires before leaving him to smell the reminece of what is the baine of his existance.

I like foxbodys and one day I'd like to buy one. The nalstagia of the 5.0 is spectactular.

Ex 5.0 Owner

I'm with you guys. I'm an ex-5.0 owner. I just got rid of the last one a year ago (photos attached). It dyno'd at 363 hp - not bad for all natural. The looks I got in that car was 10 times what I get in my 02 GT. IMO, it sounded way better than my 4.6 ever could.

Unfortunately, you guys are right though. The majority of the remaining 5.0's are gross and ratty, with a bunch of kiddies driving 'em.

That is so true so true You cant find clean foxes anymore hardly, and if so, they want an arm and leg for them, shoulda never sold my 92 notch that was perfect

only one i know of is my kind-of-uncle's (lol) 88 GT. purple, nice wheels, sounds sick. alot of motor work, not exactly sure what...that thing is so sweet

im a 5.0 guy. the more and more 5.0 guys i meet i learn there still cocky. they talk to me for a minute and then there like why you trying to race it? my friend (94gtho) has a non pi 4.6 and i can take him by car length. whopee.
