My buddy gave me a motor for my car and said its a 302. The timing chain is recesed in the block. Theres a lip all the way around it.
what kind of 5.0 is this?

Well that sounds like either a very early 221/260 (I think) or a 385-series engine(351 Cleveland, 351M, 400. The latter two being passenger car and truck engines. Cleveland was a performance engine). Is definitely not a 302. Pics would help.
I post a new thread when I get some pics of them.Yeah I didnt think it was a 302 either but my buddy is insistant that it is.Ill get some pics and casting #'s.Thanks
