What kind of intake to you recomend for a 1992 gt i got bbk headers and a cold air intake and 3.73 gears and a 5.0 pro shifter. so what kind of intake manifold should i put on it?
I have full flowmaster exhaust system sorry i kinda forgot to mention that.

bbk vs cobra intake

I'm looking for a new intake too. Anyone know if the new bbk ssi will be better than the cobra intake for a 87 gt? I see i can get the cobra R upper and lower for 385 or the bbk with fuel rails also for 519. Any input will help thanks.

go with the new bbk, im leaning towards the new design myself. for 519 you cant beat it.... new fuel rails and the newest product on the market. with virtually no restricted airflow.... like most intakes out there.... go bbk.

BBK looks nice, but there's very little real world testing on it yet. I think the holley systemax is the second best looking one, and lots of folks run that and love it. I've got a line on a cobra intake for $250. Do ya'll think it's worth the trouble of swapping onto an otherwise stock motor with just bolt-ons? See my sig.

Where did you get that data from????????????????

Ever take a close look at the intake yet?

The BBK TB side plenum has a very sharp turn for the 4 cylinders on that side. The stock intake has a 180* turn from the TB runner to the cylinder runners, but it has a larger plenum behind the TB runner to make the turn, and even then the runners right next to the TB runner suffer and don't flow as much as the other runners due to the VERY tight turning radius. The BBK does not have the benefit of a large plenum at the end of the TB runner to make the turn to the plenum on that side.

I think the jury is still out waiting for some guinea pigs to step up.

For a basically stock application I'd go with the Cobra because it still allows good low-end and because of the price. If you're looking for more in the future the TFS street heat is also very nice. The Typhoon is a cheaper intake based on the Edelbrock design, however the casting isn't as good. There is a noticeable amount of flash in the runners but it can be cleaned up. Does anyone know the rpm range for the BBK? I haven't been able to find much on it other than the article where they took a 93 Cobra with a long block, performer heads, and stock 5.0 manifold and changed to a BBK claiming a 32 hp increase over stock when the motor should've have come with a Cobra intake stock.

What are your future plans for this engine? If you are sticking with stock heads, that could be a pretty big determining factor. A lot of people have had excellent results with tmoss' ported stock lowers with mild combos. My next choice would be to pick up a used edelbrock performer for around $300. Stay away from that BBK piece; the only test I've seen run on it (5.0 mag; can't remember which issue) was a total joke. The casting looked like total crap on the inside too.

Mackey, I have to disagree with you. The Pro 5.0 clearly responds best to the new BBK. I think the article in 5.0 Mag proved that. :rlaugh:

BTW, a while back there was a thread about a mint coupe that was on ebay. That same car is listed again. You posted a picture in the thread with someone standing behind the other cars in that person's garage. I think I was the only one that figured out that the picture was taken at the location of the car. What was the story with that?

BBK test was just an infomercial pure and simple...they used POOR test proceedure to create #'s for what ever reason (probalbly advertising $$). The whole test was set up to pump up BBK sales The article shows a lack company ethics on behalf of the magazine IMO. You put same test on for BBK vs. Eddy/trickflow/typhoon/cobra/GT40 intake and I'll bet the BBK comes out bottom of the pack.

You're right, but unfortunately that's how business works. It would not be good for the magazine if they printed that a company that gives them a good amount of advertising money came out with a product and sucks. Let's be reasonable, how many of the pages in those magazines are filled with advertisments and how many with articles?
