What kind of timing advance should I be able to get away with?

Just dropped in the fresh motor/clutch and did the rear end. Everything runs great, but I know I am leaving power on the table. What kind of timing advance do you guys think I could get away with??
Currently 10* with spout out.
306 with Holley Systemax II heads (64cc)/DSS forged pro-lite pistons. Stock ignition.
All of this is in preparation for NOS/Blower in the future, but want it to hum as best as possible in the mean time.
Is this one of those things that I am gonna have to use trial and error??
By the by that Lunati stage 2 cam sounds friggin wicked.:D

just the usual, try 12 if no pinging try 14 etc. Just take it for some good runs and make sure you don't hear any pinging. Although there is a point where too much timing even if you don't hear pinging is detrimental.

My fastest time on my dead stock 240,000 mile 88 lx motor was 14.06 @97 2.06 60 ft with 20 deg initial on street tires. But most guys can't usaly run that much. For some reason that motor loves timing.

So while my set up has little referance to yours, the moral of the story is everything is diffrent, you have you run what your car likes.

Wise words here. No one can predict what a given motor will be able to handle.

I think it's worth mentioning that it is not uncommon at all to see power drop-off at a given point, but it's before detonation can be heard. That's a reason for me not to want to run on the ragged edge of pinging (plus it gives a little fudge room for a bad tank of fuel, etc).
