what made the 98 gt 225 hp and not 215

i was just wondering what the did to the mustang to make it have 225 hp instead of the 215 it had the year before?

Cause Ford said so. Likely what above post said I don't think that they made any big changes, someone must know more about it.

actually there are more differences between a 97 GT and a 98 GT than most people know. almost every wiring harness in the car is different, the fuel tank and lines are different. i think the difference in power is in the computer tuning. in 98 they started changing stuff for the 99s.

The fuel system is different, computer, tune, bumper, heads and the dash clock is gone. That is what i know off.

Engine tune and SOME had the emissions shroud missing from cylinder head next to the intake valve, that's it for the 10 claimed HP...

im putting my money on the dash clock being removed added the extra 10 hp . LOL big deal , its 10 hp .

2002blgt good someone got it. LOL Bro when i took my clock off it took off .1 off the 1/4 hehe.

Maybe they hid a "Powered by Honda" sticker under the Ford emblem on the back.

The biggest differences were fuel system changes and computer tune.

computer is different and exhaust manifolds is what i remember the official word being.

The heads are all F5AE casting #s for 96-98, no difference there. It's in the tuning and a few other minor changes.

I read in a published book from the library that I got on mustangs that it said the 10hp increase was from none other than revisions to the exhaust port on the heads.
